As September draws closer, our minds begin to focus from the wanderlust of Summer and sandy beaches to getting our fitness routines back in order. Here’s just a taste of what’s to come in our schedule of health and wellness workshops this Autumn.

“Happy Hips”  Yoga Workshop, September 9th, 3 - 5pm with Sinead Dunne.

On September 9th join Sinead for an indulgent 2 hours of hip heaven ....  make your hips happy.

During this workshop we will fully explore the hip area by activating the deeper layers of the hip joint while simultaneously releasing the areas that are tight.

Moving slowly through an initial warm up of the lower back, leg and hip area… we will then break down some frequently used poses and gradually work up to a flow.

Given the fact that fluid hip mobility is key to many yoga positions this will not only help you move deeper in your everyday yoga practice but will also relieve any pain in the surrounding areas of the lower back and knees.

30 per person, with towels, mats, changing rooms and refreshments provided.

“An introduction to Ashtanga Yoga”  Part 1, September 16th, 2-4.30pm with Brigid Sheahan.

Glide through the basic principles and movements of Ashtanga Yoga.

During the first instalment of our "Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga" series, Yoga Instructor and nutritional coach Brigid Sheahan will guide you through the basics of Ashtanga Yoga. We'll begin the class by briefly discussing the philosophy behind Ashtanga, followed by a guided class of the full primary series. We'll take time to breakdown the methodology, demonstrate poses and delve deeper into the more advanced asanas and techniques.

We’ll have time and space for questions as we work through variations, with each pose modified to suit various levels. This workshop is open to all Ashtanga Yoga practitioners, both beginners with some prior knowledge of the practice and more experienced students. It is not necessary for you to be practicing the full primary series to benefit from this intensive workshop. All that's required is an open mind and a willingness to challenge yourself, we'll have some fun along the way.

Each student will receive an Ashtanga Yoga primary series guide for home practice.

“An introduction to Ashtanga Yoga”  Part 2, October 21st, 2-4.30pm with Brigid Sheahan.

Further explore the sacred practice of Ashtanga Yoga.

During the first instalment of our "Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga" series, we touch on the philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga and guide you through the primary series.

Building on from our Part 1 workshop, we explore how the series is so intelligently designed to progressively strengthen and open up the body. Starting with the full primary series, we will recap on methods explored in Part 1. Over the course of the workshop, we will learn how to float forwards and backwards to create an amazing strength. This technique will bring your practice to another level.

We will focus on engaging bandhas (internal muscular locks) and building deep core strength to help you float lighter. To complete the session, we'll move through some pranayama breathing techniques before ending with a Q & A session.

Prepare to be challenged and leave feeling lighter.

€30 per person, with towels, mats, changing rooms and refreshments provided.

"Vinyasa Yoga Workshop"

Saturday, October 7th, from 2.00 - 4.00pm with Susie Murray.

A 2 hour Yoga practice devised to explore and develop the intricacy of the flow in Vinyasa. This class is styled to create dynamic and fluid Yoga transitions, choreographed to a strong connection to the rhythm of your breath with a soft flowing soundtrack. Learn to travel in your practice and bring effortless glide to each movement, from seated, standing, balancing and more.

Expect a strong, sweaty and fun practice where we will equally engage and relax the body. The key is learning to glide your whole body through movement, breath whilst equally engaging and learning to let go. Prepare to go with the flow like you never have before.

A fluid and moving practice that challenges in a way that also nurtures, grounds and builds the body’s strength and flexibility. Vinyasa style builds internal heat and really opens up the body. Creative sequencing encourages the body to burn toxins, strengthen and tone muscles and uplift the spirit.
